Why does massage work?

Massage works because it relaxes tense muscles. This enables the client to experience his/her own natural state of being. This relaxation addresses the physical and the feeling states. Its known benefits include enhancing the function of joints and muscles, improving circulation, benefiting general body tone and relieving mental and physical fatigue...according to the American Massage Therapy Association.

 

Why is massage in one form or another good for almost everybody?

It helps restore a sense of awareness within the person through stimulation of thousands of sensory receptors within the skin. These receptors then experience improved communication to the brain.

 

What are the components of relaxation massage?
